The friction lock is located at the top of your driveunit and inside the rear hub of the frame. It holds your drivetrain in the frame, and provides friction to give it some resistance to up and down movement.
Keep an eye on your propeller for signs of leakage around propeller seals, and fishing line wrapped around the prop shaft.
Changing the friction lock is a good idea when changing the drivetrain. If your drivetrain begins to wobble from side to side, or if it shows signs of deterioration, the friction lock may need replacement. I have instructions to show you how.
This is the friction lock lubrication point. A drop of two of oil in this spot is necessary from time to time if your driveunit resists its normal up and down movement when using your drivetrain lever arm. This will loosen up the drivetrain and relieve this resistance, thus preventing undue stress on drivetrain lever arm mount and fastening bands.
